MORR Transportation Consulting Ltd. prepared a Transportation Impact Study of the planned redevelopment of Southwood Lands, a 112-acre former golf course along the north edge of the University of Manitoba. The goal of the redevelopment is to create a vibrant, mixed-use, transit-centred urban village connected to the campus. The Transportation Impact Study included extensive consideration of active transportation needs and connections to rapid transit facilities adjacent to the site. Traffic analysis was completed for a large study area including multiple high-volume signalized intersections and an interchange. Transportation Demand Management (TDM) was a key focus for this large and high-density development. Other features of the study included a goods movement and loading analysis as well as speed management consideration.
