Establishing safe speeds is a fundamental component of a Safe System approach in road safety. MORR conducted a one-year speed limit reduction pilot project in four different neighbourhoods to evaluate the impact of reduced posted limits in changing vehicle speeds on residential roads, as well as the impact of lower speed limits on neighbourhood liveability. We evaluated the impact of implementation of different speed limit change scenarios on different performance metrics, including travel time, perceived safety, perceived liveability, expected collision reduction, ease of implementation, and expectancy.
